Rebuild California - Tax Big Oil Rally

On Thursday, July 22, community voices joined hundreds of demonstrators at the Federal Building in Westwood, CA to protest the current laissez-faire policy on big oil corporations: California is the only major oil-producing state that does not tax oil companies drilling here or of our coast.
While California families endure hard economic times and are threaten by these devastating cuts proposed by the governor, oil companies such as Occidental Petroleum’s profit nearly triple in the first quarter of this year. With the governor threatening to cut programs for families and children, it’s time for the big oil companies to do their part to REBUILD CALIFORNIA.

Both the Assembly and Senate budget proposals include a tax on Big Oil that will raise at least $1.2 billion, to help balance the budget without devastating cuts. Please view the rally in YouTube in our media gallery.
